Nearly everyone experiences post surgical swelling. The important thing to remember is to keep constant compression. This is why your Surgeon has you wearing the binder etc... You will most likely be in compression for 4 to 6 weeks. This is an average estimate, some people go longer and some shorter. I would however suggest that you look into purchasing full body or sternum compression garment. Go to the home page of homerecovery.com and go to products and select liposuction. These garment were designed for post liposuction surgery and can be worn under your clothes. I suggest purchasing 2 garments so that you will always be in a compression garment even when washing the other. Without proper compression a hernia or seroma may form complicating and lengthening your recovery time. In addition, you should look into taken arnica montana and bromelain. These are natural dietary supplements that reduce swelling and bruising. These are also available on this site as well. Always remember to check with your surgeon before altering or supplimenting his prescibed recovery regimen. He knows your health and medical history.
